Binghamton, NY (July 2, 2019) – Vice President and Business Banking Officer Kellyanne Truesdale was recognized as the 2019 recipient of the Excelsior Growth Fund Banker of the Year Award. This award recognizes the outstanding commitment of one banker in New York State who supports the Excelsior Growth Fund’s mission of helping small business owners access the financing they need to grow and thrive.
Based at ’s Greater Binghamton Financial Center on the Vestal Parkway, Truesdale goes above-and-beyond by working with small business customers who may not qualify for traditional bank financing and helps to connect them with other resources such as New York State’s Excelsior Growth Fund. In the last year alone, she has helped three of her customers receive more than $195,000 in alternative financing through the Excelsior Growth Fund.
Earlier this year, one of her customers was recognized during National Small Business Week at the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 21st Annual Small Business Excellence Awards luncheon.
“I started working with the business in 2007 when it was a one-man operation based out of the customer’s garage. Today, the company operates from a multi-million-dollar facility and employs over 125 people,” Truesdale said. “The Excelsior Growth Fund has allowed me to expand my product offerings to meet the needs of smaller businesses who may not qualify for traditional funding sources. This family business is proof the American dream is alive and well, and I am proud to have played a part in their journey.”
One of Truesdale’s first “jobs” as a child was filling out deposit tickets and counting money for her mother’s business. So, her passion to help other local businesses succeed is a deeply personal mission, and she was recognized in part for her creativity in helping business customers who might not qualify for traditional financing products.
The Excelsior Growth Fund team says: “Partnerships are so important to our work. It’s with the support of our valued network of bank partners that we’re able to strengthen communities by helping small business owners access financing that meets their needs and supports their goals.”
